SOFI FIGUEROA
Sofía Figueroa is a Venezuelan actor, director, dancer and educator. She is the NYU Voice and Speech teacher for High School Programs in the university such as the Lang Arts Scholars and FTA programs. She graduated from the MSNR Studio with the Outstanding Achievement Award and since then she has been teaching under the mentorship of Shanga Parker and Gigi Buffington.
Sofia Figueroa directed the one woman show, SUNNY & DAWN, at the Off-Broadway theater, Soho Playhouse. She directed, DANCE NATION, MACBITCHES and POTUS at the NYU MSNR studio for three consecutive years. Her directorial role is not limited to the theater, as she also directed an art exhibition called, HOME Art Expo, creating a platform for international artists to showcase their art. Her work got featured in Harper’s Bazaar, People Magazine and Cosmopolitan.
As an actress Sofia has been performing in Obie and Drama Desk Award winning theaters in New York. Most recently she performed as the beloved Disney character, Mirabel, in the ENCANTO IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE at CAMP. She was part of the winning production of three-time Tony Award winning, and Grammy Award winning actor, Lin-Manuel Miranda's competition with THAT DRIVE THRU MONTEREY at El Repertorio Español. Her recent acting credits include; MACBETH, in The West End Theater, REVOLT. SHE SAID. REVOLT AGAIN. in TheaterLab and SYRMA, in The Center of Italian Modern Art.
Apart from acting, Sofía Figueroa is also a dancer and was part of, BLOOD MEMORY and JOY RIDE LabWorks on Broadway’s New Victory Theater. She got invited to Miami to dance at the Miss Universe MUBA Event. Moreover, she was part of the first artists to perform at the Little Island performing center for, A PART OF THE MAIN, a flash mob performance that got featured in The New York Times, Playbill, Deadline and Time Out.
